We are tickled pink about Sonia and Jacey's awards!! WOO HOO!! Congrats to you both!! Here's the anouncement from SEMLA-L!
I’m most pleased to announce two winners of the Pauline Shaw Bayne Travel Grant for 2011: Sonia Archer-Capuzzo and Jacey Kepich.
Sonia Archer-Capuzzo received her MLIS this year from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She currently works as a volunteer in the UNC-G Music Library, following up her years there as a student assistant. Sonia holds a DMA from UNC-G and an MM from Texas Tech University. Her varied work experience includes free-lance clarinet performance, concert-series management, and professor/lecturer positions. She has published articles on performance-related injuries and has presented papers for ICA ClarinetFest and the Society for Ethnomusicology’s Southeast/Caribbean Chapter, among other groups. At our Saturday morning session in Chapel Hill, Sonia will speak on “Fieldwork and the Music Librarian.”
Jacey Kepich expects to receive her MLIS from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May. She holds an MM from UNC-G and has taught clarinet there as part of her Graduate Assistant duties. Previously she served as Acquisitions Assistant at the Sibley Library of the Eastman School of Music and held internships with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, and United States Marine Band.
Thanks to Jaro Szurek and Tim Gmeiner for serving on this year’s travel grant committee. (And no, the committee did not make clarinetist-from-Greensboro a secret criterion for selection.)
Welcome to SEMLA, Jacey and Sonia! We’re looking forward to having you with us in Chapel Hill.
